Top regional bank: BMO Harris Bank
BMO Harris has both a regional presence and it also offers online accounts. The bank operates more than 500 branches in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. Its headquarters is located in Chicago.
The BMO Harris Smart Advantage Checking Account only requires $25 to open an account. It received high marks for not having a monthly fee (if you sign up for electronic statements). BMO Harris also doesn’t charge you for incoming wire transfers with the Smart Advantage checking account.
BMO Harris Bank’s Statement Savings account only requires $25 to open an account. There are a few ways that you can avoid the $5 monthly fee: keeping at least a $100 daily ledger balance in the account, or if you’re under 25 years old and the primary account owner.
The bank also offers CDs, a money market account, credit cards, mortgages, loans and lines of credit to customers.
